FRIDAY, Nov. 14 — A majority of Americans, including many health-care workers, believe that people who have lung cancer are at least partly to blame for their disease, a new survey finds.
In the poll of nearly 1,500 American adults, researchers found 59 percent of respondents agreeing with the notion that lung cancer patients helped bring on their diagnosis.
It’s a bias that over time has led to fewer resources to investigate the number one cancer killer in the U.S, and added shame to the burden that lung cancer patients must carry, experts said.

A group of Dutch researchers have reported that about one fourth of the biological drugs that had hit the United States and Europe markets since 1995 had given rise to concerns about their safety just a few years after they had been approved.
Derived from living cells (and not from various chemicals like the typical drugs are), the biological meds have prompted safety warnings with regards to immune system disorders, infusion reactions, infections and cancer risk.

Breast cancer patients are risking their lives by failing to take the tamoxifen they are prescribed, according to a new study published in the British Journal of Cancer.
Half of the women failed to finish a five year course of the drug and one in five regularly forget to take a tablet.
Experts already know that taking tamoxifen for five years increases survival chances and the new research reveals that women who miss at least one tablet every five days have a 10 per cent greater risk of dying.
